US Astronauts in Karachi
I think it was 1974 when I was the elected General Secretary of Physics Society at Physics Department of Karachi University when the three US Astronauts visited Karachi and were also invited to the Physics Department for a visit. I was honored to receive them as part of the welcoming team and shook hand with them. It was very exciting as I listened to the Radio Karachi rebroadcast of their historic moon landing on July 20, 1969.

Today, July 20, 2014 is the 45th anniversary of this historic event when two American Astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin landed on moon in the shuttle "Eagle" while the third Astronaut, Michael Collins, orbited moon in the mother ship Columbia. They spent a total of 21 hours on the moon and rejoined Columbia on July 22 returning to the Earth on July 24. President Nixon, whom Pakistan helped visit China, welcomed them back. The picture is a rare footage of their visit to Karachi.
